Timofey Nastyukhin defeats Eddie Alvarez in ONE Championship

Updated on July 15 following news of Eddie Alvarez vs. Eduard Folayang being added to the tournament.

The ONE Championship Lightweight Grand Prix has officially moved to the semi-final stage after Timofey Nastyukhin’s stunning knockout win against Eddie Alvarez.

Eight fighters were selected to take part in the tournament and only four men remain. The winner of the ONE Lightweight Grand Prix will emerge as a challenger to the lightweight title.

Christian Lee now holds the lightweight belt after stopping Shinya Aoki in impressive style at ONE: Enter the Dragon in May.

Now that the first four bouts of the tournament have concluded, ONE Championship has confirmed the next two matchups and when they will take place.

Ariel Sexton was scheduled to face Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev at ONE: Enter The Dragon in Singapore on May 17. Amir Khan later replaced Sexton in the semi-final matchup.

The winner of that bout was scheduled to go on to face the victor of Lowen Tynanes vs. Timofey Nastyukhin, which was scheduled to take place in June.

That fight has since been replaced by Eddie Alvarez vs. Eduard Folayang after Nastyukhin and Tynanes suffered injuries in recent months.
