The ONE Championship Lightweight Grand Prix has officially moved to the semi-final stage after Timofey Nastyukhin’s stunning knockout win against Eddie Alvarez.
Eight fighters were selected to take part in the tournament and only four men remain. The winner of the ONE Lightweight Grand Prix will emerge as a challenger to the lightweight title.
Shinya Aoki currently holds the lightweight belt after his brilliant arm-triangle submission victory against Eduard Folayang at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan. Aoki is now set to face two-time featherweight title challenger Christian Lee, who is set to make the move up to lightweight and take on the in-form Japanese mixed martial artist.
Now that the first four bouts of the tournament have concluded, ONE Championship has confirmed the next two matchups and when they will take place.
Ariel Sexton will face Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev at ONE: Enter The Dragon in Singapore on May 17. The winner of that bout will go on to face the victor of Lowen Tynanes vs. Timofey Nastyukhin, which is scheduled to take place in June.
