Khamzat Chimaev now ranked after just one fight at welterweight 1

Khamzat Chimaev has entered the official UFC welterweight rankings at #15 after Rafael dos Anjos’ successful move back to the lightweight division on the weekend.

Chimaev (#15), who is booked to fight the #3 ranked Leon Edwards on Dec. 19, has just one win in the UFC’s welterweight division and that was against unranked Rhys McKee.

Here’s how The Body Lock’s Patrick Auger, Matthew Wells, and Drake Riggs reacted to the news.

Wells feels like it was only “inevitable” that Chimaev would enter the rankings. He says it’s time for everyone to get on board the Chimaev hype train.

Riggs responds differently. He labels it a “terrible” move, considering his one win in the division, but isn’t surprised by the “ridiculousness” of the UFC’s rankings.

Auger agrees with Riggs but does believe that it’s a brilliant move from a business standpoint. Chimaev now has a number next to his name and that’ll certainly help when it comes to promoting the Edwards fight in December.

Do you agree that Khamzat Chimaev should be ranked already? If so, where would you rank him in the top 15? And if not, let us know why in the comments section below!
