Jack Hermansson previews Kelvin Gastelum UFC Fight Island matchup: 'He won't know what's coming' 1

Jack Hermansson joins Michael Fiedel on the latest episode of Fighting Words to discuss his upcoming fight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Island on Saturday, July 18.

Hermansson gives an update on what life has been like in Norway since the pandemic began. With a need to be more creative with training, Hermansson looked to the outdoors as a way to continue training in a safe environment.

Hermansson also looks back on the matchup with Chris Weidman that fell through, stating that he wasn’t surprised that it didn’t happen considering the circumstances.

In fact, it’s worked out better for Hermansson, who believes that the fight with Gastelum provides more benefits as Gastelum is currently ranked in the division, unlike Weidman. He has no problems competing at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and comments that competing at the event will likely be safer than stepping outside in Norway at the moment.

Hermansson is returning after his loss to Jared Cannonier and takes the time to speak about how he has bounced back from prior defeats in the UFC. If all goes to plan at Fight Island, Hermansson looks to take on the winner of Till vs. Whittaker or maybe even the loser of the title fight between Adesanya vs. Costa, if it’s a close fight.
