One of the most highly-anticipated UFC events of 2022 has come to an end in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In the main event, Islam Makhachev won the UFC Lightweight Championship by defeating Charles Oliveira by head-and-arm choke submission in round two. Before then, Aljamain Sterling defended the UFC Bantamweight Championship after beating TJ Dillashaw by second-round TKO.
But one of the more controversial events of the day came at the end of the Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley bout, as O’Malley was awarded a split decision win after what was a competitive three-round battle.
