Marwan Rahiki kept his undefeated record intact with an early stoppage victory over Ollie Schmid at UFC Perth on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The finish extended Rahiki’s streak of never going to a decision in his professional career.
The bout underwent a last-minute change when Jack Jenkins withdrew due to injury. Schmid stepped in on less than a week’s notice while preparing for a different fight scheduled for May 30 at HEX Fight Series 38.
Rahiki, a 2025 Contender Series alum, was making his second UFC appearance after winning his debut. The victory keeps him perfect in his young professional career at 5-0.
Short Notice Challenge for Schmid
Schmid entered the octagon with a 4-2 professional record. The Australian fighter accepted the UFC opportunity despite having minimal time to prepare for a completely different opponent than originally planned.
The mismatch in preparation time showed as Rahiki dominated the brief contest. The Moroccan-Australian fighter used his striking to finish Schmid early in the opening round.

Rahiki was originally scheduled to face Jenkins, who had previously defeated Ramon Tavares by unanimous decision. Jenkins’ injury opened the door for Schmid to make his UFC debut on short notice.
What’s Next for Both Fighters
The loss marks a difficult start to Schmid’s UFC career. MMA analysts suggest his next fight should come against the loser of Ramon Tavares versus Kangjie Zhu, scheduled for May 30.
Tavares holds a 1-2 UFC record and is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Zhu will be making his UFC debut after winning three bouts on Road to UFC.
A matchup with either fighter would give Schmid a chance to compete with a full training camp. The timing would work well since the Tavares-Zhu bout takes place later this month.
For Rahiki, speculation points to a rescheduled bout with Jenkins once the Australian recovers from injury. That fight would pit two rising bantamweight prospects against each other.
Rahiki’s performance earned praise despite facing an unprepared opponent. The 2025 Contender Series graduate continues to prove he belongs in the UFC with back-to-back stoppage victories.
The bantamweight division continues to showcase new talent with fighters like Rahiki making quick work of their early opponents. Rahiki’s ability to finish fights has become his calling card through five professional bouts.
Schmid showed courage by accepting the short-notice opportunity but was clearly overmatched. The 4-3 fighter will need to regroup and prepare properly for his next UFC appearance.
Both fighters competed on the main card at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia. The event streamed live on Paramount+ with the main card starting at 7 a.m. ET.
