Charles Jourdain defeated Kyler Phillips by unanimous decision at UFC Winnipeg on April 18, 2026, in a back-and-forth bantamweight co-main event. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 for the Canadian fighter, who extended his winning streak to three fights.
The hometown crowd watched as Phillips applied early pressure and secured the first takedown of the fight. Jourdain attempted a triangle choke from his back but Phillips escaped and maintained top control for most of the opening round.
Phillips continued his wrestling-heavy approach in round two, landing an early trip to bring Jourdain back to the mat. However, the Canadian worked his way back to his feet and started to turn the tide with body strikes that appeared to slow Phillips down.

Jourdain Takes Control in Second Round
The second half of round two saw Jourdain break free from Phillips’ clinch attempts and open up with heavy striking. He threw a rolling thunder kick that narrowly missed as the round ended, likely evening the fight at one round apiece.
Phillips found early success on the feet in round three before scoring another takedown. Jourdain quickly scrambled back to his feet and continued to defend Phillips’ grappling attempts throughout the final frame.
The turning point came when Jourdain landed a clean flying knee to Phillips’ left eye, opening a cut. He followed up with a flurry of strikes that knocked Phillips off balance multiple times in the closing moments.
Third Straight Victory for Canadian Fighter
Jourdain’s record improved to 18-8-1 with the victory. His previous two wins came by submission over Victor Henry and Davey Grant, making this his first decision victory during the current streak.
Phillips dropped to 12-5 overall and has now lost three consecutive fights. His last victory came against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 299, followed by decision losses to Rob Font and Vinicius Oliveira.
Jourdain entered the fight looking to break into the bantamweight top 15 rankings. Phillips had previously held a ranked position but was not focused on rankings heading into the bout.
The fight lived up to expectations as both fighters showcased their striking and grappling skills. Jourdain displayed his trademark flying knees and rolling thunder kicks, while Phillips demonstrated his wrestling control despite appearing fatigued in later rounds.
Jourdain has now submitted four of his past five opponents prior to this decision win. The Canadian fighter told media this week that he viewed the matchup as an opportunity to earn ranked opposition in his next fight.
Phillips controlled Jourdain on the ground for extended periods in rounds one and three but was unable to land significant damage. The American’s strategy of using his wrestling to neutralize Jourdain’s striking proved insufficient to win on the scorecards.
The unanimous decision victory sets Jourdain up for a potential ranked opponent in the bantamweight division. The Canadian fighter now has wins in three straight fights, all coming since his most recent loss.
