Dominick Reyes earned a split decision victory over Johnny Walker at UFC 327 on Saturday night, but the win came in what many are calling one of the most forgettable fights in recent UFC history. The Miami crowd at Kaseya Center made their displeasure clear throughout the bout.
The judges scored the light heavyweight contest 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28, giving Reyes the win. Reyes now moves to 16-5 overall and 10-5 in the UFC, while Walker falls to 22-10 overall and 8-7 in the promotion.
Minimal Action Sparks Crowd Frustration
The lack of action began early and continued throughout all three rounds. Walker attacked Reyes’ lead leg repeatedly with calf kicks, causing visible swelling and bruising less than two minutes into the first round.
Reyes tried to counter with punches and jabs, but both fighters appeared reluctant to engage. By the second round, the crowd began booing loudly.
Chants of “this is boring” echoed through the arena during the final rounds. Neither fighter showed much intent to finish the fight, instead trading single kicks with long periods of inactivity between exchanges.
Commentator Joe Rogan did not hide his feelings about the contest. When fellow commentator Daniel Cormier compared it to the Carla Esparza vs Rose Namajunas rematch, Rogan responded, “that’s a nice way of saying this fight sucks.”
Jon Anik noted during the third round that there was “not much to commentate.” The Esparza-Namajunas fight is routinely considered one of the worst bouts in UFC history.

Fight Breakdown and Strategy
Walker landed eleven leg kicks in the opening round alone. He continued this strategy throughout the fight, showing little interest in throwing punches or attempting takedowns until late in the second round.
Reyes found some success with his left hand in the second round, landing a clean shot that briefly stunned Walker. However, with Walker constantly moving and circling, Reyes struggled to put together any volume of strikes.
The final round saw both fighters continue their cautious approach. They exchanged occasional leg kicks but produced minimal action overall.
Many fans and analysts had predicted a brutal knockout before the fight began. Instead, the bout played out the opposite way, with both men fighting defensively and with little aggression.
Reyes did not receive a post-fight interview despite getting his hand raised. The lack of interview is unusual for a main card winner and reflected the disappointing nature of the performance.
The victory gives Reyes his fourth win in his last five fights. He had lost his previous bout via knockout to Carlos Ulberg in September 2025 in Perth, Australia.
Before that setback, Reyes had won three straight fights with stoppage victories over Dustin Jacoby, Anthony Smith, and Nikita Krylov. Those wins had put him back in the mix at light heavyweight after taking time away from competition between 2022 and 2024.
Walker’s loss continues a difficult stretch in his career. He has now lost four of his last five fights, with his only win coming via second-round TKO over Zhang Mingyang in Shanghai in August 2025.
That victory had followed back-to-back knockout losses to Volkan Oezdemir and Magomed Ankalaev. The Brazilian fighter previously challenged for title contention but has struggled to maintain consistency.
Reyes is a former two-time light heavyweight title challenger. Despite the disappointing performance, he left UFC 327 with a win, which remains the most important outcome for fighters looking to climb the rankings.
