Former Titan FC featherweight champion and current UFC lightweight Desmond Green was arrested yesterday in Broward County, Florida, on nearly two dozen charges stemming from a 2018 car accident that involved five vehicles and killed two people.
Green, who made his UFC debut in 2017, reportedly faces 20 charges and is currently held in Broward County jail on bonds totaling $194,000, per a report from MyMMANews.
The charges against Green include four counts of DUI manslaughter, four counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury, five counts of DUI causing damage to property, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and synthetic marijuana, and driving with a suspended license.
A report by the Sun-Sentinel details that on the morning of August 18, 2018, Green lost control of his SUV and veered into the path of a tractor-trailer. This resulted in a five-vehicle collision, and while Green, along with one other driver, left with just minor injuries, the driver of a Toyota Yaris involved in the crash was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with serious injuries, and two passengers in the Yaris were killed.
Police allege that Green showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol, following the incident. Investigators also reportedly recovered a “plastic bag of white powder” that tested positive for cocaine.
It is also reported that two weeks prior to the crash, Green was involved in another accident, where he was found to be driving with a suspended license and had no proof of insurance.
Since the collision, “The Predator” has fought three times. At UFC Moscow, Desmond Green lost a one-sided contest to Mairbek Taisumov, but in his following two bouts at UFC Philadelphia and UFC Rochester, Green defeated Ross Pearson and promotional newcomer Charles Jourdain, respectively.
UFC should cut this guy loose. Driving without a license and has an accident. So he doesn’t learn. Gets in another accident, kills 2 people, injures another, dui, no license or insurance. He is going to peoson for at least 20 years.
