Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson will headline this Saturday night’s UFC 279 fight card in Las Vegas.

The UFC 279 fight card has been updated. Nate Diaz was scheduled to fight Khamzat Chimaev in the main event, but now after Chimaev missed weight, he’ll fight Tony Ferguson in a five-round bout.

Diaz has been tasked with a mighty opponent in the final fight of his UFC contract. He’ll be up against the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev, who will carry an 11-0 record into the main event. In the UFC, he’s been nothing short of outstanding, managing five consecutive wins, with his most recent effort a unanimous decision victory against former title challenger Gilbert Burns. The Chechnyan now sits at #3 in the welterweight rankings behind only the current champion Leon Edwards, former champion Kamaru Usman, and Colby Covington.

Nate Diaz has had a tough timeline of opponents in recent years. Diaz has been an underdog in nine of his last ten fights but still managed to win four of them. He’ll need to manage another upset this Saturday night if he wants to leave victorious, as he’s currently an +850 underdog.

Before Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev, Tony Ferguson will battle with Li Jingliang in the co-main event. The main card will also feature Kevin Holland in a bout with Daniel Rodriguez, as well as several other bouts.

The UFC 279 PPV main card can only be viewed live after ordering the official UFC PPV stream on ESPN+.
