Conor McGregor has reignited his rivalry with Nate Diaz by mocking the Stockton fighter’s recent loss to Mike Perry in bare-knuckle boxing. The Irish fighter took to social media to criticize Diaz and claim he turned down a fight offer.
Diaz lost to Perry via second-round TKO in May 2026 after a bloody bout that left him unable to continue for the third round. Perry’s relentless punches and kicks cornered the UFC veteran, leading to the stoppage.
McGregor posted on social media that he understood why Diaz rejected the fight offer. “I see why @NateDiaz209 didn’t take the fight lol,” McGregor wrote, before adding, “Anyway here’s to when I get my hands on you, you lanky streak of piss.”
The former two-division UFC champion also told Diaz he “got melted” by Perry. McGregor used the loss to argue that Diaz is past his prime while still framing a potential trilogy fight as a massive business opportunity.

McGregor Pushes for Trilogy Fight
McGregor insisted that a third fight between the two “has to happen” to settle their rivalry once and for all. The two fighters split their previous encounters, with Diaz submitting McGregor in the second round at UFC 196 in March 2016.
McGregor had only 11 days to prepare for that first bout. The Irishman got his revenge at UFC 202 five months later, winning by majority decision in a close fight that fans still debate.
Both fights generated massive pay-per-view numbers. The first bout drew 1.317 million buys while the rematch pulled in 1.65 million, making them among the most successful UFC events in history.
McGregor recently announced his return to the UFC at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026. He will face Max Holloway in a rematch of their 2013 bout, which McGregor won by unanimous decision.
Diaz’s Recent Fighting History
Diaz has not competed in the UFC since 2022 and has taken fights in boxing and bare-knuckle boxing. He lost to Jake Paul by unanimous decision in a professional boxing match in August 2023 that generated 450,000 pay-per-view buys.
The fighter holds the record for most UFC performance bonuses, earning 16 throughout his career ranging from $20,000 to $50,000. His net worth is estimated between $8 million and $10 million.
Diaz shut down retirement talk following the Perry loss. He told reporters “the show goes on” when asked about his future in combat sports.
Supporters of Diaz pushed back against McGregor’s criticism on social media. They pointed out that McGregor has not fought in the UFC since breaking his leg at UFC 264 five years ago against Dustin Poirier.
Other fighters have also commented on Diaz’s performance against Perry. Dustin Poirier told fans that Diaz “looked like dog shit” and repeated his offer to fight the Stockton veteran at welterweight.
No negotiations have been confirmed for a third McGregor-Diaz fight. McGregor must first complete his scheduled bout with Holloway at UFC 329 before any trilogy fight could be arranged.
