Colby Covington delivered a dominant performance against Luke Rockhold at RAF 5, winning every round on the judges’ scorecards. The former UFC welterweight contender used relentless wrestling and top control to shut out the former UFC middleweight champion.

The judges scored the fight 10-0 in favor of Covington, marking a complete shutout. Rockhold struggled to find answers against Covington’s wrestling-heavy game plan throughout the entire bout.

Multiple outlets reported the victory came by technical fall, with Covington controlling every exchange. The lopsided nature of the fight demonstrated Covington’s grappling superiority over the larger opponent.

    Covington Calls Out Georges St-Pierre

Immediately after the victory, Covington used his post-fight interview to challenge Georges St-Pierre. He pushed for a high-profile crossover matchup to take place under the RAF banner.

Covington framed the potential bout as a legacy-defining superfight. He argued that facing the legendary former UFC champion would cement his place in combat sports history.

The callout represents Covington’s attempt to secure the biggest possible fight following his RAF debut. St-Pierre has been retired from active competition since 2019 when he vacated the UFC middleweight title.

GSP last fought in November 2017, defeating Michael Bisping to win the UFC middleweight championship. He later relinquished the belt due to health concerns related to ulcerative colitis.

    Questions About St-Pierre’s Interest

St-Pierre has not publicly responded to Covington’s challenge. The 43-year-old Canadian fighter has turned down multiple comeback offers since his retirement.

Covington’s dominant performance over Rockhold may not be enough to entice St-Pierre back to competition. The former champion has consistently stated he would only return for the right opportunity and financial package.

Rockhold himself has been inactive in recent years, last competing in the UFC in 2022. The loss to Covington continues a difficult stretch for the 40-year-old fighter.

Covington’s wrestling prowess was on full display throughout the RAF 5 main event. He maintained top position for extended periods and prevented Rockhold from implementing his striking game.

The victory adds another win to Covington’s resume outside the UFC. He has been competing for various promotions since his departure from the organization.

RAF 5 marked one of the promotion’s biggest events to date. The Covington versus Rockhold matchup served as the headlining attraction for the card.

Covington reiterated his desire to face St-Pierre multiple times during his post-fight comments. He positioned the matchup as a dream fight that would draw mainstream attention to the RAF promotion.
