Charles Oliveira is ready to fight Justin Gaethje again, but he wants to raise the stakes higher than ever before. The former UFC lightweight champion wants all three of Gaethje’s belts on the line in a potential rematch.

Oliveira told journalist Bia Galev that he’s willing to put his BMF championship up against Gaethje’s lightweight title and the special White House belt. “That’s what I said: there’s nowhere to run,” Oliveira said.

The Brazilian fighter explained how fans pushed him to think bigger. “I said two [belts] and the internet went ‘not two, it’s three! It’s the White House, the lightweight and the BMF,'” Oliveira said.

“So okay, so put all three [on the line], there’s no problem at all,” he added.

Gaethje currently holds the UFC lightweight title after his upset victory over Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250. The fight took place on the White House lawn, where Gaethje earned a special commemorative belt in addition to the standard championship.

Oliveira won the BMF title in March when he defeated Max Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC 326 in Las Vegas. The fight drew criticism for being wrestling-heavy with limited striking action, but Oliveira secured the victory.

    History Between the Two Fighters

The two lightweights have fought once before at UFC 274 in May 2022. Oliveira submitted Gaethje with a first-round rear-naked choke in Phoenix, Arizona, to retain his lightweight title at the time.

Oliveira later lost the lightweight belt to Islam Makhachev in October 2022 at UFC 280. That loss ended his reign as champion and forced him to work his way back up the division.

In June 2025, Oliveira suffered a knockout loss to Topuria at UFC 317, which represented a setback in his comeback. His victory over Holloway in March served as a bounce-back performance for the Brazilian.

Gaethje had previously dismissed retirement talk after his White House victory. He stated he still wants revenge fights against both Oliveira and Holloway.

    Possible Complications for Title Fight

The path to a rematch may not be straightforward for Oliveira. Arman Tsarukyan has a fight booked against Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331.

Tsarukyan’s team told reporter Ariel Helwani that their fighter has been promised a title shot if he wins. However, UFC promises are not always guaranteed to be fulfilled.

The UFC has not yet announced main events for UFC 332 on October 3, UFC 334 on November 14, or UFC 335 on December 12. Oliveira appears ready to return to action soon based on his public comments.

Nearly four years have passed since the first fight between Oliveira and Gaethje. Fourteen months have gone by since Oliveira’s loss to Topuria.

Oliveira made clear that he believes Gaethje needs to accept the challenge since the American holds the championship and has the drawing power right now. The Brazilian seems confident that a triple-belt fight would create massive interest among UFC fans.
