How to watch Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz – UFC 263 fight start time

Although the UFC 263 fight card is topped with two exciting title fights, it’s a special five-round non-title fight that has been drawing attention all week long. The third bout of the main card is an important welterweight clash between the returning Nate Diaz and #3 ranked welterweight contender Leon Edwards.
Although a fan favorite and enough reason for many fans to order and watch the UFC 263 PPV event, Diaz is stepping into this welterweight spot as a heavy betting underdog. Diaz is listed as an +465 underdog at most bookmakers with Edwards a big favorite at odds of -545. The overwhelming majority of UFC fighters are picking Edwards to win at UFC 263, as well.
What made Diaz want to take this fight — especially since he has been out of action since he was defeated by Jorge Masvidal in November 2019?
In a recent interview with ESPN, Diaz explained that he had merely been waiting for the right opportunity to come back and that this opportunity at UFC 263 lined up in more ways than one.
“I was just trying to get on a good card when everything was happening again with full crowds,” Diaz said on SportsCenter. It was time to go and he’s [Edwards] the one who is winning and doing a good job. He’s got an impressive little record and career going on, so let’s take that shit.”
It’s a massive opportunity for Diaz at UFC 263. With a win, he’ll jump right up the rankings at welterweight and land somewhere close to the #3 spot that Edwards is currently holding.
And although Edwards should really have been fighting an opponent above him in the rankings this time, it’s still a significant fight for him, as well. With a win, Edwards is undoubtedly the next-best challenger for champion Kamaru Usman following the expected rematch with Colby Covington later this year.
