Cris Cyborg: The one, the only, the greatest

Bellator women’s featherweight champion Julia Budd welcomes Cris Cyborg at Bellator 238 on January 25.

Budd is the longtime reigning champion and hasn’t tasted defeat since 2011. She is 7-0 with the promotion and is coming off her third title defense following a TKO victory over Olga Rubin at Bellator 224 earlier this year.

Cyborg, meanwhile, recently signed with the Santa Monica-based promotion after her release from the UFC. The Brazilian defended the UFC women’s featherweight title twice before getting knocked out by Amanda Nunes at UFC 232 last year.

She would bounce back with a decision victory over Felicia Spencer in July before a public fallout with UFC president Dana White led to her release.

So how do oddsmakers see this fight playing out? You can check out the opening odds below:

  • Julia Budd: +250
  • Cris Cyborg: -360

That means a $100 stake on Budd would earn you $250 in return while you would need to bet $360 to win $100 on Cyborg.

All in all, these odds aren’t surprising. Despite Budd’s dominance in Bellator, she hasn’t faced an opponent of Cyborg’s caliber. However, she can take some credit in being the most favored opponent against Cyborg in recent times.

As for Cyborg, despite her loss to Nunes, she showed that she was still very much one of the best in the world with her dominant showing against the durable Spencer.
