Two former UFC champions secured victories at a Misfits Boxing event in Miami on September 26. Tony Ferguson defended his middleweight championship while Henry Cejudo won his professional boxing debut.

Ferguson stopped Mahmoud Sebie by technical knockout at 42 seconds of the second round. The win improved Ferguson’s Misfits Boxing record to 3-0.

The fight took a dramatic turn early in the second round when Sebie knocked Ferguson down. Ferguson recovered quickly and launched a series of punches that prompted the referee to stop the bout.

Ferguson was defending his Misfits middleweight title in the contest. His original opponent, Kenzo Biyong, had withdrawn from the event before the fight.

Hey Deen the Douche-quit playing Duck Duck Henry. The only thing you are great at is getting knocked out. BTW….Congrats on getting your Boyfriend Broner pregnant. You say you’re a fighter but the only thing your fighting is the urge to blow Broner.  You’ve been running from me… pic.twitter.com/W3jSkeY9o2

    Cejudo Wins Close Decision

Cejudo earned a split decision victory over Javon Walton in a four-round bout. The judges scored the fight 39-37, 37-39, and 39-37 in Cejudo’s favor.

The former two-division UFC champion improved his performance as the fight went on. Cejudo found his timing in the later rounds to secure the win.

This marked Cejudo’s first professional boxing match. He had previously held titles in both the flyweight and bantamweight divisions in the UFC.

Cejudo also faced a late opponent change. His scheduled opponent, Nurideen Shabazz, pulled out of the event before fight night.

    Both Fighters Faced Last-Minute Changes

The event in Miami featured multiple fighter replacements before the card took place. Both main event participants dealt with their original opponents withdrawing.

Ferguson has now won all three of his Misfits Boxing appearances. His comeback victory after the knockdown demonstrated his resilience in the ring.

Cejudo’s transition to professional boxing began with a competitive four-round decision. The split decision indicated how close the judges viewed the contest.

The Misfits Boxing promotion has attracted several former mixed martial arts fighters. Ferguson and Cejudo both made their names in the UFC before moving to boxing.

Ferguson held the interim UFC lightweight championship during his mixed martial arts career. He competed at 155 pounds in the UFC but now fights at middleweight in boxing.

Cejudo retired from the UFC in 2020 after defending his bantamweight title. He later returned for one more UFC fight in 2023 before pursuing boxing.

The September 26 event took place in Miami with both fighters earning victories on the same card. Ferguson’s second-round stoppage came after a brief scare from the knockdown.

Walton pushed Cejudo through all four rounds in their contest. The split decision showed that one judge favored Walton while two scored the bout for Cejudo.

Ferguson responded with a flurry of punches after getting knocked down by Sebie. The referee intervened to stop the fight less than a minute into the second round.
