UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has broken his silence about a social media controversy that erupted during UFC Freedom 250 last weekend. Screenshots appeared on his X account showing alleged direct messages between him and Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump.
The leaked messages supposedly showed Eric Trump asking Cormier for insider information about betting lines for UFC Freedom 250. The screenshots showed Cormier’s account calling out Trump’s alleged request before the post was deleted.
Cormier insists his account was hacked and the messages are completely fake. He says he had no idea anything was wrong until UFC social media staff approached him at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday during the event.
“I’m getting messages from massive news outlets, news channels, stations, asking me for comments on things that I have no right to be speaking about,” Cormier said in a YouTube video addressing the situation. “I’m no politician, I’m an idiot fighter that loves sports, and loves his country.”

Cormier Says He Lost Control of His Account
The former two-division UFC champion explained that he’s been locked out of his X account since the incident. He said he’s been working with Twitter to regain access after being told to change his account credentials during UFC Freedom 250.
“I had no idea how long the [messages] were up, and how long it took to take them down,” Cormier said. “Whoever hacked my Twitter, they posted, took it down because they thought that people were going to believe stuff like that.”
Cormier stressed that he would never publicly post such a conversation even if it had happened. “At the end of the day, I’d never go to Twitter and post that, after engaging in those conversations. It’s not what I do,” he said.
The 47-year-old commentator also addressed critics who questioned why he deleted the tweet. “People were asking me why I deleted the tweet, but I had no idea what was going on,” he explained.
Sponsors and Media Outlets Contact Cormier
The controversy has reached beyond social media, affecting Cormier’s professional relationships. He revealed that sponsors have contacted him about the incident, expressing his frustration with the situation.
“I’m getting contacted by sponsors because of this thing,” Cormier said. “I’m annoyed, frustrated, because I’m telling you guys it’s just not true.”
Cormier made clear that he doesn’t have a relationship with Eric Trump. “I understand the trolling and all that, but I’m telling you straight up, [Eric Trump] didn’t come up to me and ask me those things,” he said. “He doesn’t know me, and we don’t follow each other on social channels.”
In one video captured by political correspondent Nicholas Ballasy, Cormier expressed disbelief at the situation. “They’re not real, I can’t believe you guys believed that,” he said. “I got hacked or something, who believes stuff like this?”
The controversy has prompted widespread skepticism on social media. Many users have questioned Cormier’s explanation, with some suggesting he was forced to retract the post.
As of now, neither Eric Trump nor President Donald Trump has publicly commented on the allegations. The UFC has also remained silent on the matter, issuing no official statement about the incident.
Cormier was still working to regain full control of his X account as of the morning after his YouTube video was posted. He told critics frustrated with his denials to “leave me the f*ck alone” as he continues to maintain his innocence.
