Ronda Rousey has confirmed her appearance at AEW Revolution 2026 was a one-off deal, with no plans for additional appearances in All Elite Wrestling. Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live that the former UFC champion is done with AEW after her single night at the promotion’s pay-per-view event.
“I can confirm that Ronda Rousey is done with AEW,” Alvarez said. “It was a one and done.”
The timing of Rousey’s appearance was mostly about convenience and promotion. Revolution took place in Los Angeles, where Rousey lives, making it an easy opportunity to plug her upcoming fight.
“She showed up… thought it would be an easy way to plug the upcoming fight,” Alvarez explained. “They immediately plugged the fight, and that’s it.”
Rousey will face Gina Carano on May 16 under the MVP Promotions banner. The event will air on Netflix.
Ronda Rousey says AEW is a less restrictive, more adult version of WWE
"It's a less restrictive, more adult version of WWE. Those are all very good descriptions. And it’s kind of a cool little FU to TKO because WWE is on Netflix." pic.twitter.com/fYWHMUvvAu

Rousey’s Motivation Behind AEW Appearance
On her YouTube channel, Rousey revealed deeper reasons for appearing at the AEW event. She described it as a “little bit of a f*ck you” to TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of both WWE and UFC.
Rousey had spent over a year in talks with UFC about returning to the organization for a fight with Carano. Those negotiations ultimately fell apart, leading her to book the fight through MVP Promotions instead.
“It’s kind of a cool little bit of a, like little bit of a f*ck you to the TKO group, which is kind of funny because WWE is on Netflix,” Rousey said. “But I kind of figured it’d be easier to ask for forgiveness instead of permission on this one.”
Rousey also acknowledged the unusual situation of promoting a Netflix event while appearing on a competing wrestling promotion. “Like, I’m promoting your show. It’s fine,” she said. “We didn’t advertise it. It’s not like we boosted the ratings of it, so it should be fine.”
What Happened At AEW Revolution
At Revolution, Rousey appeared after her close friend Marina Shafir lost to Toni Storm. The segment showed Rousey confronting Storm before Storm was attacked by Shafir.
Rousey aligned herself with the Death Riders faction. The angle appeared to set up future storylines, which confused some observers.
“When I saw what they did, I thought they had to be setting up some match,” Alvarez said. He noted that even if Rousey couldn’t wrestle due to her MMA commitments, she could have appeared in a non-wrestling role.
“Could she be in Marina’s corner? Could she do something? Apparently, nope,” Alvarez said.
Rousey praised AEW’s atmosphere on her vlog. “It’s a little bit more laidback,” she said, comparing it to WWE.
This was Rousey’s first full AEW pay-per-view appearance. She had previously worked a Ring of Honor taping but never performed at an AEW event before Revolution.
Alvarez confirmed that while the door remains open for a potential return, there are currently no creative plans for Rousey in AEW. “It’s not like she can’t come back, but there are no plans for her to be back,” he said.
Rousey’s appearance at Revolution was primarily about supporting Shafir and promoting her return to mixed martial arts. The fight against Carano on May 16 will mark her return to competition outside the UFC banner.
