UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan will headline a submission grappling event in Brazil on March 11, less than two weeks after his controversial wrestling appearance ended in a brawl. The Armenian fighter will compete at Hype FC Brazil in Rio de Janeiro at the Farmasi Arena.
Tsarukyan’s opponent has not been announced yet. According to preliminary reports, his opponent may be a Brazilian fighter.
The announcement comes just 10 days after Tsarukyan competed at RAF 6 in Arizona on March 1. That wrestling match against Georgio Poullas ended with Tsarukyan winning 5-3, but the victory was overshadowed when he attacked his opponent after the final whistle. The incident sparked a scuffle between both camps that went viral on social media.
This marks Tsarukyan’s second appearance with the Moscow-based Hype Fighting promotion. He previously competed in a submission-only grappling match against Shara Magomedov on December 30 in Yerevan, Armenia. That contest ended in a draw, with both fighters later admitting they were unclear about the rules.
Stacked Card Features Multiple UFC Stars
The Brazil event features several high-profile UFC fighters in grappling matches. Jorge Masvidal, the former BMF champion, will face Shara Magomedov in a submission-only bout.
Brazilian featherweight Jean Silva will also compete in a grappling match. Silva’s opponent has not been announced yet. The Fighting Nerds representative is coming off an impressive decision victory over Arnold Allen at UFC 324, where he finished the fight by surfing on Allen’s back.
The card will also include bare-knuckle fights featuring Brazilian athletes on the preliminary portion of the event. Tickets for the show range from $7 to $45 USD.
Busy Schedule While Awaiting UFC Return
Tsarukyan has stayed active outside the UFC octagon while waiting for his next official fight booking. Since submitting Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar in November 2025, he has competed four times in just over three months across different combat sports formats.
He has won all but one of those appearances. The only blemish was the draw against Magomedov at Hype FC’s December event.
Silva is also in a holding pattern with the UFC. He is waiting for the matchmakers to call him for his next featherweight assignment following his win over Allen. Many consider him a rising contender in the 145-pound division.
Hype Fighting has made waves recently with its unique approach to booking MMA fighters in grappling matches. The promotion reportedly offered actor and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast Tom Hardy a matchup with Magomedov, though that fight did not materialize. The organization has also tried to book controversial figure Dillon Danis against Magomed Zaynukov.
The promotion is known for investing heavily in its events. Hype FC Brazil takes place on March 11 at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
