UFC 254 Prediction: Can Justin Gaethje beat Khabib Nurmagomedov?

Patrick AugerBy Patrick AugerSeptember 10, 20201 Comment1 Min Read

Patrick Auger and Matthew Wells share their predictions for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje before UFC 254 on October 24.

Can Justin Gaethje defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov? Or will Khabib beat Gaethje in the same way he has dominated many fighters in the UFC before?

Auger and Wells are both backing Khabib Nurmagomedov to win at UFC 254 but explain what needs to happen for Gaethje to come out on top in the five-round main event.

Wells points to the fact that Gaethje has that touch of “crazy” that may be required to finally defeat Khabib, noting that was the same reason that many fans were excited for the Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson fight.

Auger reminds fans that Khabib sometimes becomes too comfortable standing up with his opponent and doing so against the dangerous Gaethje could spell trouble.

But ultimately, Auger and Wells state that it’s “unlikely” that Gaethje will defeat Nurmagomedov at UFC 254 and go as far as to say that Khabib getting knocked out would be similar to the time Chris Weidman knocked out Anderson Silva.

Who do you think will win at UFC 254?
