Shooto 2020 1/26

Over the week, a lot happened. In terms of MMA and otherwise. So, inevitably, the Shooto 2020 1/26 show flew completely under-the-radar. This is unfortunate, because the Korakuen Hall was treated to an exciting night of action!

In the main event, it was a vacant strawweight title fight. Yohei Komaki and 21-year-old Koha Minowa fought for former ONE Championship title-holder Yosuke Saruta’s recently vacated Shooto 115-lb strap. Coming off a 40-second knockout win, Komaki was the #1 ranked strawweight in Shooto opposite Minowa’s #2. This was admittedly interesting given the fact that, heading into the title fight, Minowa holds two victories over Komaki. Did he make it three here?

In the co-headliner of the show, a Shooto Pacific Rim featherweight title tilt between champion Mitsuhiro Toma and Takashi Nakayama. Another fight between former foes, as the challenger Nakamya has a victory over the champion Toma.

Elsewhere on the card in non-title action, fan-favorite RIZIN veteran Mamoru “Fullswing” Uoi faced UFC, Pancrase, and DEEP veteran Motonobu Tezuka and a battle of top-ranked bantamweights sees Takumi Tamaru face-off with Nobuki Fujii. Check out the full card and results of Shooto 2020 1/26 below.
