Video: Was this the moment Sean O’Malley got injured during UFC 252 defeat?

    O'Malley

Sean O’Malley suffered his first career defeat at UFC 252 — and unfortunately, it was an injury that played a key role.

O’Malley met Marlon Vera in the co-main event on Saturday night with the contest pretty even on the feet for as long as it lasted.

However, “Sugar” would go on to injure his ankle which ultimately led to his demise as he would later slip and go to the ground with Vera proceeding to land strikes en route to a first-round TKO finish.

It was an unfortunate end to the fight as well as a cruel way for O’Malley to suffer his first defeat. However, injuries are part of mixed martial arts and the Reddit community seemed to have identified the exact moment O’Malley injured himself.

As can be seen in the video, O’Malley switches stances after receiving a low kick to his right leg. He would then slip while feinting soon after.

Of course, this is just speculation, but it seems to be a good guess.

Regardless, O’Malley had to be carted off from the Octagon and it looks like he may be on the sidelines for some time.

Hopefully, it is nothing too serious and he has a quick and speedy recovery.
