Dan Hooker

Dan Hooker has become a shorter betting favorite over Michael Chandler.

Hooker welcomes Chandler to the promotion when they collide in the co-main event of UFC 257 which takes place Saturday night in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

The PPV event is exclusive to the ESPN+ digital streaming service and can be ordered here.

For most observers, the general consensus seems to be that Hooker will likely come out on top given the stylistic matchup and the caliber of opponents he has been facing in comparison to the former Bellator lightweight champion.

Oddsmakers seemed to agree as well, but with just a few days to go for UFC 257, the betting lines are shifting. When the matchup was first announced, Hooker opened as a -160 favorite while Chandler was a +140 underdog.

However, the odds are very different now as oddsmakers have Hooker ranging from a -120 to -137 favorite. Chandler, meanwhile, ranges from a +100 to +117 underdog.

That means you would have to bet $120 to win $100 on Hooker, while a $100 stake on Chandler would win you as much as $117.

It appears more money is coming in on Chandler as bettors seemingly believe he’ll get his UFC career off to a good start. It will certainly be interesting to see what the odds are on fight night.

Here are the opening odds for the pair’s last five fights:

Dan Hooker last five fights

  • vs. Dustin Poirier (L): +135
  • vs. Paul Felder (W): -120
  • vs. Al Iaquinta (W): -110
