Jorge Masvidal defeats Ben Askren

We’re set for a stacked card as UFC 244 takes place this weekend on November 2 at Madison Square Garden, New York. Headlining the event, of course, is the BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

Despite all of the drama involving USADA and Diaz last week, the bout is still on. So who do oddsmakers see winning the welterweight contest?

When the fight was officially announced, it was a pick ’em with both fighters opening at -110. That meant you would need to bet $110 on either fighter to win $100. However, that is not the case anymore.

Instead, Masvidal has shifted as the favorite as -175 at the time of writing. Diaz, meanwhile, is now a +145 underdog. That means you would have to bet $175 to win $100 on Masvidal, while a $100 stake on Diaz would win you $145.

Why is this the case? It’s likely that a lot of money is coming in for Masvidal with just a few days left for UFC 244. After all, “Gamebred” is on fire this year with emphatic knockouts over Darren Till and Ben Askren.

Diaz returned to action for the first time in three years at UFC 241 in August and enjoyed a dominant unanimous decision win over Anthony Pettis. Is that enough for him to beat Masvidal? We’ll just have to see.

Here are the opening odds for the pair’s last five fights:
