Charles Oliveira

We’re now just days away from the stacked UFC 280 fight card that’s set to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this Saturday.

There have been some late changes to the UFC 280 schedule, but fortunately, all of the biggest and best fights are still intact. In the main event, Charles Oliveira gets an opportunity to reclaim the UFC Lightweight Championship title following his disastrous weigh-in at UFC 274. Oliveira weighed in over the championship limit for that event and was stripped of the title. He ended up beating Justin Gaethje but was deemed ineligible to win the title that night after failing to make weight.

To recapture the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship, Oliveira will need to defeat Islam Makhachev. Makhachev has now won ten consecutive bouts in the UFC and recently developed into a finisher, with all of his last four wins coming via stoppage. Most recently, Makhachev has defeated Bobby Green, Dan Hooker, and Thiago Moises.

A second UFC title will be up for grabs this weekend as Aljamain Sterling prepares to defend the UFC Bantamweight Championship. Sterling will face former two-time champion TJ Dillashaw in what should be an exciting 135-pound clash. Sterling steps back into the cage following a split decision win against Petr Yan. Sterling returns following last year’s victory against Cory Sandhagen.

Before then, Sean O’Malley gets his toughest test to date when he faces Petr Yan in a three-round bantamweight fight. The UFC 280 main card also features Beneil Dariush vs. Mateusz Gamrot as well as Katlyn Chookagian vs. Manon Fiorot.

Notice: The UFC 280 fight card will stream at a special Saturday afternoon time in the United States and will only be available to watch on ESPN+ PPV.
