The Ultimate Fighter 30: Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes named as coaches

Jake NicholsBy Jake NicholsFebruary 6, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

The coaches for the 30th season of the Ultimate Fighter have been revealed.

New UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena will face Amanda Nunes in an immediate rematch for the title following the series.

The UFC announced that Season 30 of The Ultimate Fighter will debut on Tuesday, May 3 and that all 12 episodes will stream only on ESPN+ in the United States. All episodes will drop weekly starting from May 3. ESPN+ subscribers will be able to watch Season 30 episodes live and on-demand, as well as any episode from all of the 29 previous seasons of TUF.

In December, Pena stunned mixed martial arts fans when she defeated Nunes by rear-naked choke in the second round of their bout at UFC 269. Pena had entered the fight as a massive underdog with odds of +700 but managed to score one of the biggest upsets in UFC history as well as claiming the bantamweight title.

Before UFC 269, Nunes was undefeated since 2014 and had won all of her last 12 bouts. Nunes still holds the featherweight title, meaning that this rematch with Pena will be a champion vs. champion battle once the series is concluded.
