Cub Swanson’s UFC Retirement Fight: Odds and Preview for UFC 327
Cub Swanson steps into the octagon one last time at UFC 327 this Saturday night in Miami. The 42-year-old featherweight faces Nate Landwehr in what will be his retirement fight on the Paramount+ main card.
Swanson carries a record of 30-14. Landwehr is 18-7.
The odds are nearly even across sportsbooks. FanDuel has Swanson at -111 and Landwehr at -115. DraftKings lists Swanson at -112 and Landwehr at -108. BetMGM has both fighters at -110.
Swanson is one of the last remaining veterans from the World Extreme Cagefighting era. He has competed in the UFC since 2011 and has beaten names like Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira during his career.
His most recent win came via knockout over Billy Quarantillo in December 2024. That was 17 months ago.
Landwehr, 37, is six years younger but has lost two straight fights by stoppage. His last loss came against Morgan Charriere at UFC Fight Night in Nashville in July 2025.
How Each Fighter Can Win
Swanson’s main tools are his boxing, hand speed, and footwork. He uses angles well and times his counter punches effectively. His ability to make opponents miss has helped him stay competitive well into his 40s.
Landwehr fights with relentless pressure. He moves forward constantly and overwhelms opponents with volume. He has also shown accuracy with leg kicks, landing 19 of 24 against Austin Lingo and 12 of 15 against Ludovit Klein.
Those leg kicks could be a problem for Swanson. Analysts have pointed out that Swanson has had trouble absorbing leg and body kicks in recent fights.
Betting Trends
Around 75–80% of moneyline bettors are backing Swanson, according to Action Network. Nearly 80% are also taking the under 2.5 rounds.
That heavy public lean on Swanson is why some analysts see value on Landwehr. One noted that oddsmakers may be offering underdog money to attract casual bettors who are following recency bias from Swanson’s knockout win.
Swanson was taken down five times across his last two fights, compared to just once in seven fights from 2019–2023. That trend has been raised as a concern.
Landwehr’s record of 18-7 includes wins by knockout and submission. His finishing rate sits at 61%, compared to Swanson’s 60%.
At the UFC 327 pre-fight press conference on April 9, Landwehr stated plainly: “I’m here to hurt you.”
