UFC 284: Makhachev vs. Volkanovski full fight card schedule

    UFC 284 Alexander Volkanovski

A champion vs. champion megafight is the main event of this weekend’s top-heavy UFC 284 fight card in Perth, Australia.

Newly crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will defend his title against top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter Alexander Volkanovski in the five-round main event. Volkanovski has dominated the featherweight division and now gets an opportunity to move up a weight class and grab his second title.

It’s a tough ask for the Australian fighter, however, as many fans and analysts agree that Makhachev poses a difficult challenge due to both his elite wrestling and size advantage.

An interim title will also be up for grabs at the RAC Arena when Yair Rodriguez meets Josh Emmett in an Interim Featherweight Championship bout. With Volkanovski challenging Makhachev and stepping away from the division for a short time, Rodriguez and Emmett will compete for an interim title which all but guarantees the next shot at Volkanovski and the undisputed championship when he returns to the 145-pound category later this year.

The main card also features fast-rising Australian fighter Jack Della Maddalena, who will clash with Randy Brown in a three-round welterweight fight. Justin Tafa and Parker Porter will meet in a heavyweight bout on the main card. Jimmy Crute and Alonzo Menifield will open up the PPV with a light heavyweight bout.

The event takes place on Sunday in Australia but will still air live on Saturday night in the United States due to the timezone difference. Here’s how to order and watch the UFC 284 PPV on Saturday night in the US.
