The UFC returns to Australia with a highly-anticipated event, UFC 284, set to take place at RAC Arena in Perth on Sunday, February 12. With two titles up for grabs in the main and co-main event, fans can expect a night of non-stop action.
Fight fans back home in the United States can watch the UFC 284 fight card live on ESPN+ PPV at the usual Saturday night time, despite the timezone difference.
The main event features the first defense of newly-crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev against Australia’s reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Makhachev, who holds an impressive record of 23-1, won the title last October with a submission win against Charles Oliveira. Meanwhile, Volkanovski, who has a record of 25-1, recently made the fourth successful defense of his 145-pound belt against Max Holloway and boasts a 22-fight winning streak.
The co-main event pits Mexico’s Yair Rodriguez against American Josh Emmett in a battle for the interim featherweight title. Rodriguez, who holds a record of 14-3, is the #2 ranked contender in the featherweight division and recently won his previous bout by TKO in the first round against Brian Ortega. Emmett, ranked #5 in the featherweight division with a record of 18-2, is coming off a split-decision win against Calvin Kattar.
The rest of the UFC 284 fight card includes a welterweight bout between Jack Della Maddalena and Randy Brown, a heavyweight bout between Justin Tafa and Parker Porter, and a light heavyweight bout between Jimmy Crute and Alonzo Menifield.
The preliminary card includes Tyson Pedro vs. Modestas Bukauskas, Joshua Culibao vs. Melsik Baghdasaryan, and Jamie Mullarkey vs. Francisco Prado. The early preliminary card features Jack Jenkins vs. Don Shainis, Loma Lookboonmee vs. Elise Reed, and Zubaira Tukhugov vs. Elves Brenner.
