WWE star Logan Paul is calling for a match against Conor McGregor following the former UFC champion’s devastating knee injury at UFC 329. Paul says he contacted WWE executive Paul Levesque, known as Triple H, about setting up the fight.

McGregor suffered an ACL and meniscus tear in his right knee during his return fight against Max Holloway earlier this month. The injury happened in the opening moments when McGregor attempted a leaping kick and landed awkwardly, forcing referee Mike Beltran to stop the fight.

Paul discussed the situation on his “Impaulsive” podcast, stating he reached out to his WWE boss immediately after watching McGregor’s loss. “I texted my boss after Conor lost,” Paul said. “I was like, ‘Bro, Conor’s cooked. Like, do something with him. Make a bag, let me fight him.'”

    WWE Star Versus WWE Star

Paul believes McGregor’s days as a competitive MMA fighter are over. “Big WWE star vs. big WWE star, because that’s what he is now,” Paul explained. “Conor is doing WWE because he’s incapable of fighting.”

The WWE performer compared McGregor’s situation to Mike Tyson’s exhibition fight against his brother Jake Paul. “He has a lot of people fooled. And he fooled everyone before this fight,” Paul said. “Just like Mike Tyson fooled everyone before he fought my brother, Jake Paul. Like, age matters.”

Paul also criticized how McGregor spent his time during his five-year layoff from the UFC. “This wasn’t a Jon Jones five years off,” Paul said. “The stuff he was doing in the five years was not conducive to that of an elite fighter.”

McGregor had been away from competition for five years before UFC 329, partly due to a serious leg break he suffered in a 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier. The latest injury means he will be sidelined for approximately another year.

    History Between McGregor and WWE

McGregor has previously teased the possibility of joining WWE at some point in his career. He recently posted on social media about WWE star Roman Reigns, asking “who?” when questioned about the wrestler.

Sources within TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of both UFC and WWE, believe McGregor knows exactly who Reigns is. They say he’s trying to create buzz and keep his options open for a potential WWE crossover.

Paul acknowledged McGregor’s contributions to combat sports before criticizing his current state. “By the way, also appreciate what Conor McGregor did to the sport, UFC, crossover boxing and MMA. He pioneered in a lot of ways,” Paul said on his YouTube channel.

Paul admitted he bet money on Holloway to win the fight. “I threw a lot of money on Max,” Paul said. “I was disappointed, because I know everyone wanted to see something.”

McGregor has stated he plans to rehab his knee injury and return next summer for the final fight on his UFC contract. Paul expressed doubt about whether another performance like UFC 329 would be good for McGregor’s legacy, saying “if he comes back and has a similar performance, it’s just really bad.”
