Veteran lightweight Bobby “King” Green will face rising Mexican prospect Daniel Zellhuber at UFC Mexico on Feb. 28 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. The UFC announced the matchup over the weekend.

Both fighters enter the bout looking to snap losing streaks. Green holds a 33-17-1 record and recently ended a two-fight skid with a split decision victory over Lance Gibson Jr. in December.

The 39-year-old Green has competed 28 times inside the UFC Octagon. He suffered a brutal knockout loss to Mauricio Ruffy earlier in 2025 when he was put to sleep by a spinning wheel kick.

After taking a nine-month break following that loss, Green returned to action last month. His split decision win over newcomer Gibson Jr. came at a catchweight bout on short notice.

Zellhuber Looks to Rebound at Home

Zellhuber brings a 15-3 record into the fight but is experiencing the first losing streak of his professional career. The 26-year-old Mexican fighter has dropped back-to-back decisions to Esteban Ribovics and Michael Johnson.

His loss to Ribovics at UFC 306 was considered a potential “Fight of the Year” candidate despite the outcome. However, his most recent defeat to Johnson at UFC 318 raised concerns about his development.

Zellhuber had previously won three straight fights before his current skid. That winning streak led many observers to view him as a potential contender in the lightweight division.

The Mexican prospect now stands at 3-3 in his UFC career. He lost his promotional debut to Trey Ogden before building his three-fight winning streak.

    UFC Mexico Card Takes Shape

The Green vs. Zellhuber bout joins a growing fight card for the Mexico City event. Former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno faces Asu Almabayev in the expected main event.

Macy Chiasson meets Ailin Perez in a bantamweight matchup on the card. Other confirmed bouts include Edgar Chairez vs. Felipe Bunes and Imanol Rodriguez vs. Kevin Borjas in flyweight contests.

The card also features Jose Medina vs. Ryan Gandra at middleweight and Wes Schultz vs. Damian Pinas in another middleweight bout. Santiago Luna takes on Angel Pacheco at bantamweight.

Cristian Quinonez faces Kris Moutinho in a bantamweight fight. Ernesta Kareckaite meets Sofia Montenegro in a women’s flyweight matchup to round out the announced bouts.

Green has gone 4-3 over his last seven appearances inside the Octagon. He continues to serve as a test for younger fighters moving up the lightweight rankings.

Zellhuber will have the advantage of fighting in front of his home country crowd in Mexico City. The bout represents a critical moment for both fighters as they attempt to avoid extended losing streaks in the competitive lightweight division.
