Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi will meet in a five-round flyweight main event at UFC Fight Night on June 20 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The bout features the #5 ranked Kape facing #2 ranked Horiguchi in a rematch years in the making.

The two fighters previously met in RIZIN, Japan’s premier mixed martial arts organization. Since that first encounter, both men have continued to develop their skills and add new dimensions to their games.

Tale of the Tape and Betting Lines

Kape enters the octagon as the betting favorite at -165 odds. The Portuguese fighter represents a powerful striker known for his combination punching and knockout ability.

Horiguchi, nicknamed “The Karate Kid,” comes in as the underdog at +140 odds. The Japanese fighter has competed at the highest levels across multiple organizations throughout his career.

Analysts who have studied tape from both fighters highlight key differences in their approaches. Kape relies heavily on his power and aggressive combination work to overwhelm opponents. Horiguchi counters with superior footwork and movement to control distance and find openings.

He’s on a finish streak 👀@ManelKape is on a streak of two straight wins via KO/TKO and is tied for the most wins by KO/TKO in flyweight history (5). Will he continue the streak at #UFCVegas119?

Keys to Victory for Each Fighter

Experts breaking down the matchup point to distance management as crucial for Horiguchi’s success. His ability to move in and out of range while avoiding Kape’s power shots will determine whether he can pick apart his opponent over five rounds.

For Kape, landing his trademark combination power punches represents his clearest path to victory. If he can cut off the cage and force exchanges at close range, his superior power could end the fight at any moment.

The co-main event features light heavyweight Ion Cutelaba taking on Navajo Stirling. Cutelaba enters as a heavy favorite at -320 odds, while Stirling from New Zealand is listed at +260.

The main card also includes three featherweight bouts. Hyder Amil faces Christian Rodriguez, Melsik Baghdasaryan takes on Murtazali Magomedov, and Vinicius Oliveira meets Andre Fili.

Preliminary fights begin at 5:00 PM EDT with the main card starting at 8:00 PM EDT. The entire event will be available to watch on Paramount+.

The prelim card features seven additional bouts across multiple weight classes. Women’s bantamweight contenders Karol Rosa (#11) and Luana Santos compete in one of the featured preliminary fights.

Brazilian fighters are well-represented on the card with multiple competitors from the country appearing throughout the evening. Andre Lima faces Kevin Borjas in a flyweight bout, while Bia Mesquita takes on Melissa Mullins in women’s bantamweight action.

Tickets for the event went on sale to the public on May 22, following presales for UFC Fight Club members and newsletter subscribers. The Meta APEX facility in Las Vegas has hosted numerous UFC Fight Night events since the organization began using the venue.

Both Kape and Horiguchi have used their recent performances to position themselves for a potential title shot in the flyweight division. The winner of their June 20 encounter will likely move closer to championship contention in one of the UFC’s most competitive weight classes.

The fight card represents a full slate of action with 12 total bouts scheduled across the prelims and main card.
