    TLDR

    • Jon Anik will join the broadcast team for UFC Fight Night Belgrade in an uncommon Fight Night assignment
    • Anik typically serves as the lead play-by-play announcer for UFC pay-per-view events, not Fight Night cards
    • The Belgrade card features Jan Blachowicz vs. Navajo Stirling in the main event
    • Fight Night events usually feature different commentary teams than premium pay-per-view broadcasts
    • Anik has been the UFC’s lead announcer for major events since 2014

Jon Anik will join the broadcast team for UFC Fight Night Belgrade, marking an uncommon assignment for the veteran UFC commentator. Anik typically reserves his duties for the promotion’s biggest pay-per-view events.

The UFC has not announced the complete broadcast lineup for the Belgrade card. However, Anik’s presence signals the organization’s commitment to providing high-level coverage for the international event.

Anik has served as the UFC’s lead play-by-play announcer for major events since 2014. He regularly calls UFC pay-per-view cards alongside color commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier.

Fight Night Assignments Less Common for Lead Announcer

UFC Fight Night events typically feature different commentary teams than the promotion’s premium pay-per-view broadcasts. The organization usually assigns broadcasters like Jon Gooden or Brendan Fitzgerald to handle Fight Night duties.

Anik’s involvement in a Fight Night card represents a departure from his standard schedule. The decision suggests the UFC views the Belgrade event as requiring its top-tier broadcast talent.

The Belgrade card will take place in Serbia’s capital city. The UFC has held several events in Eastern Europe over the years, building a strong fan base in the region.

    Belgrade Card Features High-Profile Matchups

UFC Fight Night Belgrade includes a main event between former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and short-notice replacement Navajo Stirling. Blachowicz previously held the UFC light heavyweight title from 2020 to 2021.

Stirling accepted the fight on short notice to face the Polish veteran. The matchup gives Blachowicz an opportunity to return to the win column in front of a European audience.

The UFC has not released the full fight card for the Belgrade event. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the promotion finalizes the lineup.

Anik began his UFC career as a reporter and backstage interviewer before transitioning to commentary. He has called some of the biggest fights in UFC history, including multiple title fights and record-breaking events.

The Belgrade event will air on ESPN+ in the United States. International broadcast details vary by region and local television agreements.

Fight Night cards typically air on Saturday afternoons in the United States to accommodate European time zones. The Belgrade event is expected to follow this scheduling pattern for American viewers.

The UFC has not provided an official start time for the Belgrade broadcast. Fans can expect the preliminary card to begin several hours before the main card.

Anik’s addition to the broadcast team represents one of his few Fight Night appearances in recent years. His last regular Fight Night assignment came several years ago before he became the exclusive voice of UFC pay-per-view events.
