Former UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik was arrested in South Florida on Monday, according to Broward County arrest records. The 37-year-old fighter known as “Bigi Boy” faces charges of battery and false imprisonment.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department arrested Rozenstruik on January 19 outside of Miami. He was taken to the Broward County Main Jail where he remains in custody.
Rozenstruik was hit with a third-degree felony charge for false imprisonment with bond set at $2,500. A second misdemeanor charge for touch or strike/battery in a domestic violence case carried a $1,000 bond.
Authorities placed the Suriname native on an immigration hold on Tuesday. The hold was set for 48 hours according to online court records.
Dutch publication Waterkant reported that Rozenstruik’s partner claimed the arrest stemmed from a dispute with a neighbor that required police intervention. The partner stated that bail has since been paid while the case remains pending.
Pembroke Pines Police confirmed the arrest Wednesday after MMA Junkie requested an arrest report. The full police report was not available at the time of initial reporting.

Rozenstruik’s UFC Career
Rozenstruik competed 15 times in the UFC from February 2019 to February 2025. He quickly made a name for himself with devastating knockout power and impressive athleticism.
The heavyweight fighter started his UFC run with three straight knockout victories. He headlined his first UFC Fight Night card against legendary fighter Alistair Overeem in December 2019.
Despite trailing on the scorecards, Rozenstruik landed a brutal knockout in the final seconds that split Overeem’s lip in gruesome fashion. The comeback victory established him as a dangerous contender in the division.
His next major test came against Francis Ngannou in a highly anticipated main event. The fight ended quickly with Ngannou knocking out Rozenstruik in just 20 seconds.
Rozenstruik remained a top-10 heavyweight for most of his UFC career. He scored impressive wins over former champions Andrei Arlovski and Junior dos Santos during his six-year run with the promotion.
He headlined six UFC Fight Night cards total and earned three post-fight bonus awards. Rozenstruik finished his UFC career with a 9-6 record.
Life After the UFC
The UFC released Rozenstruik in February 2025 following a decision loss to Sergei Pavlovich. The release came despite Rozenstruik holding a 2-1 record in his final three UFC bouts.
After leaving the promotion, Rozenstruik signed with Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship. He fought twice under the Dirty Boxing banner in 2025 and won both contests.
In his second fight with the promotion, Rozenstruik captured the inaugural Dirty Boxing heavyweight championship. He went 2-0 overall with the organization before his arrest.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department has not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding Rozenstruik’s arrest. Court records list both charges as domestic violence offenses.
