Duncan Says His Fight IQ Is Catching Up

The former Cage Warriors champion said he has developed as a fighter since joining the UFC three years ago. Duncan admitted he was still “quite green” when he first entered the promotion in 2023.

“My IQ and my knowledge of the game is catching up to my athleticism and my physical ability now,” Duncan said in a prefight interview. “This will come down to, yeah, he has experience, but I have evolution and hunger on my side too.”

Duncan described himself as becoming a more mature fighter. He believes his technical understanding of mixed martial arts has improved to match his natural athletic gifts.

    Allen Brings Extensive UFC Experience

Brendan Allen has compiled a 15-4 record inside the UFC octagon since earning his contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2019. His experience at the highest level of the sport gives him an edge over many opponents.

Duncan joined the UFC in 2023 and currently holds an 8-2 record with the promotion. Despite the shorter tenure, he has worked his way up the middleweight rankings.

The Saturday night main event represents a test for both fighters. Allen will look to use his veteran savvy against a younger, hungry opponent.

Duncan’s five-fight winning streak has earned him the opportunity to headline a UFC card for the first time. The Englishman hopes his momentum and improving skills will carry him past the experienced contender.

The fight takes place at Meta Apex in Las Vegas on October 10. Duncan believes his development as a complete mixed martial artist has prepared him for this moment against a seasoned UFC veteran like Allen.
