It looks like UFC Uruguay has scored an absolute fire-fight of a co-main event, as polarizing welterweight brawler Mike Perry (13-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) will take on Vicente Luque (16-6-1 MMA, 9-2 UFC), reports MMA Uncensored.
Perry, 27, has won two of his last three fights. He outpointed Paul Felder at UFC 226 to snap a two-fight losing skid, then fell short to top UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone by first-round submission. The Floridian rebounded with a decision victory over Brazilian finisher Alex Oliveira in April.
Perry’s UFC career began with a bang, as “Platinum” knocked out four of his first five opponents, dropping his first promotional loss to Alan Jouban in the midst of his initial run. Perry suffered a two-fight losing streak in back-to-back decision losses to Santiago Ponzinibbio and Max Griffin, respectively.
He will look to win two straight fights for the first time since 2017 against red-hot Brazilian contender Vicente Luque.
Luque, also 27, is riding a five-fight winning streak. Since a 2017 loss to top contender Leon Edwards, Luque has submitted Niko Price and knocked out Chad Laprise, Jalin Turner, Bryan Barberena, and, most recently, Derrick Krantz.
Following a loss on the Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale, Luque scored four-straight wins to kick off his UFC career. Luque scored submission victories over Hayder Hassan and Álvaro Herrera, then knockout wins over Hector Urbina and Belal Muhammad.
The Brazilian destroyer was slated to face Neil Magny at UFC Rochester, but Magny withdrew from the fight after being flagged for a potential doping violation. Instead, Luque will face Perry in what is sure to be an all-out war.
