Jon Tuck of the USA and Josh Emmett

Team Alpha Male’s Josh Emmett (14-2) has proven to be one of the most dangerous punchers at 145-pounds in all of MMA. And stylistically, he could be getting a great fight for his next time out.

FloCombat has reported that Emmett and fellow top featherweight contender, Mirsad Bektic (13-1) have verbally agreed to square off. The promotion currently is targeting the match-up to take place at UFC Sacramento on July 13.

For Bosnia’s Bektic, he currently rides a two-fight winning streak that’s seen him pick up impressive wins over the likes of Godofredo Pepey and the perennial featherweight contender and former title challenger, Ricardo Lamas.

In Emmett’s return to the division in October 2017, he defeated Felipe Arantes before getting a high profile match-up with Lamas himself. Despite missing weight by two and a half pounds on short notice, Emmett would put the division on notice by blasting Lamas into unconsciousness with a devastating punch with thirty seconds remaining in the opening round.

His most recent bout would be no different.

Returning off a brutal loss of his own to Jeremy Stephens, Emmett would take on Michael Johnson and find himself down on the scorecards as the fight wound down.

Oh well. That was no problem for Emmett who landed yet another walk-off knockout to his opponent with less than a minute remaining in the fight.

This will be Bektic’s first time in the Octagon since June 2018 if it comes to fruition and it definitely wouldn’t be an easy one. But as one of the weight class’ brightest prospects over the last so many years, he would certainly rise to the occasion.
