One of the more interesting storylines of 2019 has been the relationship between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington.

Both fighters are close friends, teammates at American Top Team (ATT), and even roomed together back in the day. However, things have certainly changed between the two, especially with the increase in stock for Masvidal.

With both fighters now vying for a welterweight title shot, we’ve never seen them together recently, nor have they actually interacted with each other online. According to ATT owner Dan Lambert, they are no longer training together in the gym either.

Covington still maintains Masvidal is his “best friend” and bigs him up from time to time. However, he also takes the occasional dig, repeatedly mentioning how Masvidal is 2-2 in his last four fights, while also calling him the Robin to Covington’s Batman.

To the latter, “Gamebred” responded:

“He probably didn’t even write that line,” Masvidal told Submission Radio. “And two, he knows I know he didn’t write that line, cause he knows I’m not a superhero, man. I’m a fucking goon, man.

“And he’s gotta slow down a little bit, cause I’m not a superhero, man. He knows what he’s doing, and it’s whatever, man. It’s cool, baby. I love to fight.”

To the pair’s credit, they both have claimed they will fight each other if they have to. That might be a reality soon, especially if Covington goes on to defeat Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title next.
