    • The former UFC champion underwent Ibogaine treatment in Tijuana, Mexico at the AMBIO facility
    • McGregor worked with doctors from Stanford University to address trauma through the psychoactive drug treatment

Conor McGregor announced his return to social media on Sunday after weeks of silence. The former two-division UFC champion posted on Twitter for the first time since October 6.

McGregor revealed he traveled to Tijuana, Mexico for Ibogaine treatment at the AMBIO facility. The Irish fighter said he worked with doctors from Stanford University on a series of treatments to address trauma.

Ibogaine is a psychoactive drug that has been studied for treating addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder. Stanford University published research in January 2024 examining Ibogaine’s effects on traumatic brain injuries in military veterans.

NEW: Conor McGregor says he was “shown his death” during trauma treatment in Mexico, says he had an encounter with Jesus.

The fighter said he underwent Ibogaine treatment.

The study found that Ibogaine, when combined with magnesium for heart protection, reduced PTSD, anxiety and depression in veterans with TBI. The research showed improvements in functioning for those treated.

McGregor described his experience as “incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening.” He said the treatment lasted 36 hours before he could rest.

    Religious Experience During Treatment

The 37-year-old fighter wrote about having spiritual visions during the treatment. He described seeing his own death and how it would have affected his children.

McGregor claimed to have visions of God, Jesus, Mary and the Archangels. He wrote that Jesus “anointed me with a crown” and that he was saved.

“My brain. My heart. My soul. Healed,” McGregor wrote. “When I awoke I was me again.”

The fighter called the treatment worth its weight in gold. He said it “absolutely saved my life, and in turn saved my family.”

    Plans for UFC Return

McGregor has mentioned plans to compete at the UFC’s White House event scheduled for June. This would be his first fight since July 2021.

His last UFC appearance ended with a broken leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier. The injury contributed to his extended time away from the octagon.

McGregor referenced a Netflix documentary titled “In Waves and War” about the treatment facility. He encouraged people to watch it to see where he received treatment.

In October, shortly after his last social media post, McGregor made similar claims about being “saved” at a BKFC press conference in Italy. He has been active in entertainment, starring in the 2024 film Road House.

McGregor’s Instagram account is currently deactivated. His Twitter account remains active where he posted his announcement.

The fighter has faced legal troubles recently, including being found liable for sexual assault in a civil suit resolved in December. During court testimony, McGregor admitted to cocaine use.

McGregor thanked his family, friends, fans and team in his post. He wrote “The World is in for a treat” regarding his planned return.
