Israel Adesanya became the new undisputed middleweight champion following his knockout of Robert Whittaker at UFC 243 this past weekend. He is now expected to face Paulo Costa for his first title defense.
However, another potential fight that has fans excited is one with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The two have gone back-and-forth with each other ever since Adesanya became the interim middleweight champion at UFC 236 earlier this year.
And it’s only increased after this weekend.
All I hear is “I’m a bitch, I dance better than Jones.” Oh and some weird shit about big American balls in your mouth. https://t.co/aLNjHVBsTF

While a fight between the two doesn’t look like it will happen in the near future — with Adesanya predicting it will take place in 2021 — that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating who would win.
And as of now, oddsmakers see Jones winning. Here are the opening odds:
- Jon Jones: -550
- Israel Adesanya: +375
That means you would need to bet $550 on Jones to win $100 while a $100 stake on Adesanya would net you an additional $375.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise. While both fighters are undefeated, Jones is the bigger fighter who has been beating better competition for a much longer period than Adesanya.
However, things could change in the future, especially if “The Last Stylebender” continues to impress and stay undefeated.
Here are the opening odds for the pair’s last five fights:
Jon Jones last five fights
- vs. Thiago Santos (W): -850
- vs. Anthony Smith (W): -500
- vs. Alexander Gustafsson (W): -200
- vs. Daniel Cormier (NC): -185
- vs. Ovince Saint Preux (W): -675
Israel Adesanya last five fights
- vs. Robert Whittaker (W): +160
- vs. Kelvin Gastelum (W): -220
- vs. Anderson Silva (W): -400
- vs. Derek Brunson (W): -260
- vs. Brad Tavares (W): -120
