Ronaldo Souza of Brazil reacts as he prepares to take on Tim Boetsch

Jan Blachowicz welcomes Jacare Souza to the light heavyweight division when they meet in the UFC Sao Paulo main event on November 16.

Blachowicz has won five of his last six outings and is coming off an impressive knockout victory over former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in July.

Souza, meanwhile, last competed in April where he was outpointed by Jack Hermansson in their UFC Sunrise headliner. That made it three losses in his last five fights as the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt now looks to change his fortunes in another weight class.

And although Souza will be fighting in front of his own fans, oddsmakers are favoring Blachowicz to deliver another unpleasant welcome to the division for a former middleweight. That means you would need to bet $220 to win $100 on Blachowicz while a $100 stake on Souza would earn you $170.

These odds shouldn’t be surprising. Given his recent run and his win over Rockhold, Blachowicz appears to be hitting his prime as he edges close to a title shot.

Souza, on the other hand, has had some inconsistent results of late. He also turns 40 in December and will be moving up to a division with bigger and more powerful fighters. How big a factor that plays will be known in a couple of weeks.
