Ederson Macedo subs Kevin Diaz
Light Heavyweight
The Fusion FC 37 main event was over almost as soon as it started, with Brazilian big man Ederson Macedo (10-5) emerging victorious by kimura submission. Venezuela’s Kevin Diaz (6-7) pushed forward with a takedown at the opening bell but Macedo immediately reversed to top position. From there Macedo’s BJJ edge was evident as he cinched the quick sub for his 10th finish in 10 pro wins.

Edison Lopes dec. Andrew Flores Smith
Heavyweight
The rough run for Peruvian stars on the FFC 37 undercard continued here, as 40-year-old Edison Lopes (10-4, #244 World) offered too much size and cardio for Andrew Flores Smith (19-11, #1 Peru) to handle. Former middleweight Flores Smith, 35, swung for the home run early but gassed quickly when the big shot didn’t land. That allowed Lopes to dictate the fight with peppering range strikes and solid leg kicks. Lopes emptied much of his gas tank midway through round 2 looking for a finish with punches & knees in close. Flores Smith hung tough and by the third round, the pace had turned glacial.
Lopes gave away valuable points late in round 3 by laying on his back and allowing Flores Smith to hover above for a bout a minute. The Peruvian finished with a strong flurry, but it wasn’t enough to sway the judges as they handed Edison Lopes a rightful win by unanimous decision. Lopes earned his first ever win by decision, while Flores Smith suffered his first defeat since falling by TKO to Israel Adesanya back in 2016.
Bruno Pereira subs Hector Huamani
139 lbs Catchweight
Peru’s Hector Huamani (9-8) enjoyed plenty of support from the partisan crowd but was outgunned at every turn by Team Nogueira’s Bruno Pereira (10-6-1). Pereira, 24, measured range expertly as he cracked Huamani with several crisp punches. When Huamani slipped off a kick, Pereira took advantage by hopping on top and working to back mount. Before the end of round 1, the Brazilian sunk in an RNC, adding Huamani’s name to a list of submission victims that includes current UFC fighter Humberto Bandenay.

Paulo Bananada dec. Jose Zarauz
Featherweight
In a battle of fighters who have tasted the cusp of the world scene, Brazil’s Paulo Bananada (23-14) used three rounds of smothering pressure to completely neutralize home favorite Jose Zarauz (18-6-1, #321 World 145). Zarauz, who lost his one international bout at ACB 84 versus Arbi Mezhidov, couldn’t find space as Bananada pressed him into the cage. One-time Brave CF fighter Bananada popped his man with sharp strikes on occasion, but for the most part this fight was all about cardio and clinch control. In the end, it was a disappointing result for the home crowd as Paulo Bananada, 34, picked up one of the biggest wins of his 12-year pro career by split decision. It took a truly crazy scorecard for one judge to give that fight to Zarauz, but in the end the right man came away victorious.
Ronald Tubinez TKOs Gustavo Torres
Heavyweight
Hulking muscleman Ronald Tubinez (2-1) of Venezuela swung thunderous, wild meathooks that sent Gustavo Torres (6-6) flying across the cage in the opening seconds. Moments later Tubinez finished with left handed ground punches to seal the TKO about a minute into the fight.

Marco Munoz TKOs Miguel Fierro
Welterweight
Peru’s Marco Munoz (6-1) returned to the cage after a one-year layoff and looked flat in the opening moments as Ecuador’s Miguel Fierro (2-3) put him on his back. After about a minute Munoz swept with a deep heelhook try and it was smooth sailing from there, culminating in a round 2 TKO win via hammerfists.
Jessy Vasquez TKOs Marco Drago Macedo
Welterweight
Quick and impressive stuff from Peru’s Jessy Vasquez (2-0), who blasted Brazil’s Marco Drago Macedo (0-1) with a blistering left hand in the opening minutes of their welterweight contest.

Adrian Castro subs Zair Mori
139 lbs Catchweight
The first pro bout at Fusion FC 37 was a fun scrap for as long as it lasted, with Adrian Castro (2-0) and Zair Mori (0-1) trading strikes and dominant positions. When it hit the ground in round 2, Castro hunted for an RNC before wrapping up a tight triangle choke to force the tap.
