Bi Nguyen to make ONE Championship debut against Wulan on April 12 1

Bi Nguyen (4-3) finally has a date, location, and opponent lined up for her ONE Championship debut, per source.

A source tells The Body Lock that Nguyen will face Indonesia’s Dwi ani Retno Wulan (1-0) at ONE Championship: Roots of Honor, which takes place in Manila, Philippines on April 12.

Nguyen, 29, is a Vietnamese-American atomweight prospect. Nguyen’s martial arts career began in Muay Thai, but she transitioned to MMA in 2014.

Nguyen fought six times as an amateur, compiling a 5-1 record across promotions like Fury FC, 559 Fights, and Legacy FC.

She turned pro in 2016, winning her first three professional bouts. She then dropped two straight fights to Andy Nguyen (who she had beaten in her pro debut) and Lindsey VanZandt, respectively.

Bi Nguyen bounced back with a split-decision win over Cassie Robb, but dropped her most recent bout to Jayme Hinshaw, both fights of which took place in King of the Cage.

One might recognize Nguyen from her stint on the popular reality-TV show, Survivor. Nguyen competed last year on the show’s 37th season, which was titled Survivor: David vs. Goliath.

Bi Nguyen, who stands 4’11”, was one of the “Davids”.

Today, Nguyen is training at Tiger Muay Thai alongside the UFC’s Shevchenko sisters.

Wulan, 20, won her ONE Championship debut last November.

The Indonesian is a state Muay Thai champion and trains out of Han Academy.

ONE Championship: Roots of Honor takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on April 20. The card currently features two title fights, as Joshua Pacio (16-3) looks to get revenge against Yosuke Saruta (19-8-3) in a flyweight title fight, and Martin Nguyen (11-3) looks to defend his lightweight title against Narantungalag Jadambaa (14-5).
