Teofimo Lopez will defend his WBO and Ring Magazine super lightweight titles against undefeated challenger Shakur Stevenson on January 31, 2026 at Madison Square Garden. Despite holding the belts, Lopez enters the fight as a +230 underdog against Stevenson, who is heavily favored at -320.
The fight headlines The Ring VI card, which features six total bouts starting at 6:05 p.m. ET. Main event ringwalks are expected at approximately 10:50 p.m. ET, with the entire card broadcast exclusively on DAZN Pay-Per-View for $69.99.
Both fighters are 28 years old and bring impressive credentials to the ring. Lopez holds a record of 22-1 with 13 knockouts and is making his fourth title defense.
Stevenson comes in undefeated at 24-0 with 11 knockouts. The WBC lightweight champion is moving up to 140 pounds for the first time, attempting to capture a title in his fourth weight class.
Face-Off at Knicks Game Builds Anticipation
The fighters had their first face-off of fight week on January 28 during a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. Lopez held his two championship belts while staring down Stevenson for 20 seconds as the crowd cheered.
Both fighters received custom No. 1 Knicks jerseys during the timeout presentation. The crowd gave each fighter a warm reception during their introductions at the game, which the Knicks won 103-87 over the Sacramento Kings.
Celebrities showed their support for each fighter during the basketball game. Director and longtime Knicks superfan Spike Lee met with Lopez during pre-game warm-ups, learning the champion is a Brooklyn native.
Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan threw his support behind Stevenson, meeting with the Newark, New Jersey native courtside after the game. With Lopez from Brooklyn and Stevenson from nearby Newark, both fighters will have strong local support.
Lopez has earned major victories over pound-for-pound legends Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor during his career. His most recent win came via unanimous decision over Arnold Barboza Jr. in May 2025.
Stevenson ranks ninth in BoxRec’s pound-for-pound ratings and recently defeated heavy-hitter William Zepeda by decision in July 2025. That 12-round fight demonstrated his durability against one of the division’s hardest punchers.
Stacked Undercard Features Multiple Title Fights
The co-main event features Keyshawn Davis taking on Jamaine Ortiz in a 10-round super lightweight bout. Davis is a -625 favorite over Ortiz, who previously pushed Lopez to the limit in a close decision loss in early 2024.
WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames defends his title against Austin Williams. Adames is a -460 favorite despite Williams holding a five-inch reach advantage and two-inch height advantage.
Bruce Carrington fights Carlos Castro for the vacant WBC featherweight title. The undefeated Carrington is a heavy -1000 favorite, having captured the interim belt in July 2025 by defeating Mateus Heita.
Heavyweight veteran Jarrell Miller returns to Madison Square Garden against Kingsley Ibeh. The 37-year-old Miller is favored at -750 over Ibeh, who enters on an 11-fight winning streak.
The card opens with Saudi Arabian prospect Ziyad Almaayouf facing Kevin Castillo in a 10-round welterweight clash. Almaayouf holds a 7-0-1 record and is listed as a -1300 favorite to remain unbeaten.
Madison Square Garden will convert from basketball court to boxing venue on Friday night. The arena will host the Knicks again on Sunday, giving the crew just over 24 hours to transform the space back for basketball after Saturday’s fights.
