    • Most Valuable Promotions announced the cancellation following an internal investigation into the allegations against Davis

    • Davis was sued by Courtney Rossel, who claims he attacked her on October 27, 2025, and threatened her life on multiple occasions

Jake Paul’s fight with Gervonta Davis scheduled for November 14 in Miami has been cancelled. Most Valuable Promotions announced the decision after a civil lawsuit was filed against Davis for alleged domestic violence. The bout was set to be broadcast live on Netflix.

MVP confirmed the cancellation following an internal investigation into the allegations. CEO and founder Nakisa Bidarian said their team worked with all parties to handle the situation responsibly. The fight was originally scheduled for Atlanta before being moved to Florida.

Paul expressed disappointment on his X account. He called working with Davis a nightmare. Paul apologized to everyone involved, including undercard boxers, the MVP team, and the crew who prepared for the event.

Davis faces a lawsuit from Courtney Rossel, his former girlfriend. Rossel claims Davis attacked her at work on October 27, 2025. She also alleges he threatened her life and committed physical violence and strangulation at least four times previously.

Rossel says the incidents caused her to develop post-traumatic stress disorder. The lawsuit includes allegations of kidnapping. These are civil charges filed in court, not criminal charges.

This case emerged two months after another domestic violence case against Davis was dropped. A different ex-girlfriend had brought those previous allegations. Davis has faced legal issues before related to domestic violence accusations.

    Davis’s Legal History

Davis was arrested twice in 2020 on domestic violence charges. He served 44 days in prison in 2023 for violating house arrest rules. The house arrest was related to a 2020 hit-and-run case.

The cancelled fight had attracted attention because of the size difference between the fighters. Davis is a lightweight champion who competes at 135 pounds. Paul typically fights at cruiserweight, approximately 50 pounds heavier than Davis.

The weight difference raised questions about the matchup. Florida sanctioned the bout despite Paul’s size advantage. Critics questioned whether the fight should have been approved given the disparity.

MVP confirmed Paul will still headline a Netflix event before the end of 2025. The statement said details about a new date, location, and opponent will be announced when finalized. The promotion is working to arrange a replacement fight.

Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you…

Paul has been discussing a potential fight with Anthony Joshua for 2026. He told Sky Sports that teams are already talking about making the fight happen next year. Paul said taking on Joshua would be a massive risk and challenge.

Paul stated he finds excitement in fights where people don’t think he has a chance to win. He mentioned the Joshua fight as something he’s targeting after the Davis bout. With the Davis fight now cancelled, the path to facing Joshua may be clearer.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, had previously said a fight with Paul couldn’t happen until after the Davis bout. Hearn stated that if Paul got knocked out by Davis, a fight with Joshua would be ridiculous. The cancellation removes that condition.

Hearn had expressed skepticism about the matchup with Davis. He referred to it as an exhibition and suggested Paul needed to get through that fight first. Now that obstacle no longer exists for potential negotiations with Joshua’s team.

Paul’s team continues working on securing a high-profile opponent for late 2025. The promotion wants to maintain momentum and deliver the promised Netflix event. They are committed to finding a suitable replacement for Davis on short notice.

The cancellation represents a setback for Paul’s boxing schedule. He had been building toward the Davis fight as part of his ongoing boxing career. The event was expected to draw significant viewership on Netflix.
