Mike Tyson Named Most-Feared Fighter
White specifically called Mike Tyson the most-feared fighter in boxing history. Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion ever at age 20 in 1986.
“Iron Mike” dominated the heavyweight division in the late 1980s. His aggressive style and knockout power made him an intimidating presence in the ring.
Tyson finished his career with 50 wins and 44 knockouts. He recently returned to boxing for an exhibition match against Jake Paul in November 2024.
Muhammad Ali earned his spot on White’s list for obvious reasons. Ali won the heavyweight championship three times during his career.
The boxer formerly known as Cassius Clay fought from 1960 to 1981. He finished with a record of 56 wins and 5 losses.
Ali’s fights against Joe Frazier and George Foreman remain some of the most famous bouts in boxing history. He transcended the sport to become a global icon.
Julio Cesar Chavez rounds out White’s Mount Rushmore. The Mexican legend went 87 fights without a loss to start his career.
Chavez held world titles in three different weight classes. He finished his career with 107 wins against 6 losses and 2 draws.
The fighter from Culiacan, Mexico competed professionally from 1980 to 2005. Boxing fans consider him one of the greatest Mexican fighters ever.
White has always been vocal about his love for boxing. The UFC president grew up watching the sport before launching his career in mixed martial arts.
The UFC and boxing have often competed for pay-per-view dollars and fan attention. Despite this competition, White has consistently praised great boxers throughout his career.
White has also promoted boxing matches in recent years. His Power Slap promotion shows his continued interest in combat sports beyond MMA.
The UFC boss made his Mount Rushmore selections based on each fighter’s impact on boxing. All four fighters dominated their respective eras and weight divisions.
