Yoel Romero opened up about his personal philosophy before stepping into the ring against Darren Till at BKFC 94 in Manchester this Saturday. The 49-year-old fighter shared a message focused on discipline, faith, and family values.
“First off, I would like to tell the people to live a life of love and not hate. Live a life of discipline,” Romero said during a pre-fight interview. “Live a life loving God and loving your neighbor. And within you, the need to love your family and also take care of your family.”
Romero believes these principles form the foundation for success. “These are the principles of the human being. When you have that, the best dreams that you have will come true,” he explained.

Signature Taunt Returns
During the interview, Romero brought back his famous barking taunt that fans remember from his fighting career. The gesture became popular after his knockout victory over Melvin Manhoef at a Bellator event in 2022.
The Cuban fighter has competed across multiple combat sports organizations since leaving the PFL in 2024. His recent fights have included bareknuckle boxing, bareknuckle MMA, wrestling in RAF, and Dirty Boxing competitions.
Romero made his BKFC debut in September 2025 with a quick finish of Theo Doukas. However, he suffered a loss to Vagab Vagabov in a bareknuckle fight in Russia this past March.
Heated Final Faceoff
Till and Romero came face-to-face for the last time Friday at the ceremonial weigh-ins. The two former UFC middleweight title challengers exchanged words during the tense confrontation at the AO Arena.
Till, 33, entered the bareknuckle world with a successful debut in May. He defeated Bellator veteran Aaron Chalmers by second-round TKO in his first BKFC appearance.
Before switching to bareknuckle fighting, Till went 3-0 in boxing matches. This record included two exhibition bouts and one professional fight after his UFC departure in 2023.
The matchup brings together two fighters who once challenged for UFC gold at 185 pounds. Both men are now testing themselves in the bareknuckle boxing format.
