Online War of Words Led to Matchup
The bad blood between these two fighters started on social media. Susurkaev kicked things off by claiming he didn’t know who Pinas was.
Pinas fired back after his July victory over Cesar Almeida by calling out Susurkaev. He doubled down on his criticism following his October finish of Andrey Pulyaev.
Pinas earned his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series last year. Known as “The Baba Yaga,” he has finished all three of his UFC fights in the first round.
His only professional loss came via disqualification for an illegal kick on the Brazilian regional scene in 2024. All 11 of his wins have come by stoppage.
Chimaev Training Partner Returns After Withdrawal
Susurkaev trains alongside welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev. The Chechen fighter has also shown finishing power throughout his career.
He has only gone to the judges’ scorecards once in 12 professional victories. All three of his UFC wins have come by stoppage.
Susurkaev was originally scheduled to fight Donte Johnson at UFC 334 in November. He withdrew from that fight for undisclosed reasons.
The December 12 event will be the UFC’s final numbered event of 2026. Both fighters will look to maintain their finishing streaks at T-Mobile Arena.
Pinas holds an 11-1 record with 11 finishes across his career. Susurkaev enters the bout with a perfect 12-0 record.
The matchup pairs two of the division’s most exciting prospects. Both have made quick work of their opponents since joining the UFC.
Neither fighter has shown much patience in the octagon. Their combined six UFC fights have all ended in the first round.
The December bout will give one fighter their first UFC loss. Susurkaev will look to protect his undefeated record against the heavy-handed Pinas.
Pinas has finished opponents consistently throughout his professional career. His only blemish came from a disqualification rather than being stopped by an opponent.
VestnikMMA broke the news of the matchup on November 4. The UFC has not yet officially announced the fight.
