Joaquin Buckley will defend his number 10 welterweight ranking against Mike Malott on Saturday at UFC Fight Night in Edmonton, Alberta. The event takes place at Rogers Place with the main card starting at 8 PM ET on Paramount+.
Buckley enters the fight on a two-fight losing streak after dropping decisions to Kamaru Usman and Sean Brady. Both opponents used dominant wrestling to control Buckley for extended periods.
Before those losses, Buckley won six straight fights at welterweight. His victories included knockouts of Stephen Thompson and a doctor stoppage win over Colby Covington.

Malott brings a four-fight winning streak into the main event. The Canadian fighter most recently knocked out Gilbert Burns in the third round at his previous main event appearance in April.
The 27-year-old Malott also holds wins over Kevin Holland, Trevin Giles, and Charles Radtke during his current streak. He trains as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and previously coached striking at Team Alpha Male.
Betting Odds Favor Hometown Fighter
Sportsbooks have installed Malott as the favorite at -135 with Buckley listed at +114. The over/under on the fight lasting 3.5 rounds is set at -115 on both sides.
Buckley stands 5-foot-8 with a 76-inch reach while Malott measures 6-foot-1 with a 73-inch reach. Despite being shorter, Buckley has a three-inch reach advantage.
Malott will be fighting on Canadian soil for the sixth consecutive time. This marks his second straight main event in his home country.
Buckley’s recent losses exposed problems with his defensive wrestling. Both Usman and Brady repeatedly took him down and controlled him on the mat for long stretches.
Malott’s only UFC loss came by third-round TKO against Neil Magny at UFC 297. He has finished fights by both knockout and submission during his career.
Co-Main Event Features Flyweight Contenders
Erin Blanchfield returns from an 11-month layoff to face Jasmine Jasudavicius in the co-main event. Blanchfield withdrew from a previous booking of this fight in August due to injury.
Blanchfield holds a 14-2 record and ranks fourth at women’s flyweight. She last fought in November 2025, defeating Tracy Cortez by decision.
Jasudavicius has won six of her last seven fights. The Canadian fighter submitted Ariane da Silva in her last Edmonton appearance and defeated Karine Silva by decision in April.
Blanchfield is a heavy favorite at -325 with Jasudavicius listed at +260. The fight serves as an eliminator for future title contention in the division.
Eleven of the thirteen scheduled fights feature at least one Canadian fighter. The card marks the UFC’s fourth visit to Edmonton and first since November 2024.
Kyle Nelson faces UFC debutant Cristian Perez at lightweight on the main card. Marc-Andre Barriault battles Kyle Daukaus at middleweight while Louis Jourdain meets Timmy Cuamba at bantamweight.
Mandel Nallo returns against Nate Landwehr after getting stopped in his previous bout against Jai Herbert. The prelims begin at 5 PM ET with the main card following at 8 PM ET.
