UFC President Dana White revealed that Salahdine Parnasse had the third-biggest debut on social media in UFC history. White shared this information during a media session following Tuesday Night Contender Series.

Parnasse made his UFC debut last weekend in Paris, where he knocked out Dan Hooker in the first round. The performance earned praise from fans and media members who now view the Frenchman as a serious contender in the lightweight division.

When asked about Parnasse’s debut, White called it “incredible.” He then disclosed the social media statistics that put Parnasse in elite company.

Only Two Fighters Generated More Buzz

White named the only two fighters who had bigger UFC debuts on social media than Parnasse. Paddy Pimblett holds one of the top spots, while Raul Rosas Jr. claims the other.

Pimblett signed with the UFC in 2021 after building popularity through Cage Warriors. He debuted at UFC Vegas 36 on September 4, finishing Luigi Vendramini in the first round with a TKO.

Salahdine Parnasse had no desire to take a vacation or break after his win over Dan Hooker and is already back in the gym:

Rosas Jr. became famous on Contender Series in 2022 when he earned a contract as a teenager. He made his official debut two months later at UFC 282 on December 10, submitting Jay Perrin in the first round.

Since their debuts, Pimblett and Rosas Jr. have combined for a 12-2 record. Both fighters received careful matchmaking that allowed them to build momentum before facing top-ranked opponents.

Parnasse appears to have different plans. The former KSW champion called out Max Holloway immediately after his win over Hooker.

White Open to Parnasse vs. Holloway

White addressed Parnasse’s callout during the media session. “The crowd was incredible, the fight was great and calling out Max Holloway is pretty crazy,” White said.

When reporters asked if he would be interested in making that fight, White responded positively. “Anything is interesting,” he said. “The fact that that guy wants to fight Max Holloway now is… impressive. I like it.”

Parnasse entered the UFC with strong reviews from the MMA community. He held the KSW lightweight championship before signing with the UFC.

The 31-year-old fighter told media members before his debut that his timing was perfect. “I’m arriving with maturity,” Parnasse said, suggesting he feels ready for immediate competition at the highest level.

Hooker entered the fight ranked in the lightweight division. His loss to Parnasse dropped him to 13th in the latest UFC media rankings, while Parnasse crashed into the top 10.

White’s willingness to consider a fight between Parnasse and Holloway indicates the UFC sees potential in the French fighter. Holloway is a former featherweight champion who recently moved to lightweight.

If Parnasse faces Holloway in his second UFC fight, the matchup could generate even bigger social media numbers than his debut. White did not provide a timeline for when the UFC might book the fight or confirm if serious discussions have begun.
