Serghei Spivac will face Vitor Petrino in the co-main event of UFC Sacramento on August 22 at the Golden 1 Center. The heavyweight bout features contrasting styles as the veteran grappler meets a surging knockout artist.

Petrino enters the fight as the -150 favorite according to current betting odds. Spivac is listed at +120 despite his superior grappling credentials and experience against top-level competition.

    Fighter Records and Recent Form

Spivac holds an 18-6 professional record and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Ante Delija in February 2026. That win ended a two-fight losing streak that included a decision loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta and a first-round TKO defeat to Jailton Almeida in January 2025.

The 31-year-old Moldovan fighter has earned eight of his 18 career victories by submission. He holds the highest takedown accuracy among active qualifying UFC heavyweights at 59.3%.

Petrino carries a 14-2 record and has won three consecutive fights since moving up to heavyweight from light heavyweight. The 28-year-old Brazilian most recently defeated Steven Asplund by unanimous decision in March 2026.

His previous two heavyweight wins came by stoppage, including a first-round knockout of Thomas Petersen in October 2025 and a rear-naked choke submission of Austen Lane. Before moving to heavyweight, Petrino suffered losses to Dustin Jacoby and Anthony Smith at light heavyweight.

    Fighting Styles and Predictions

Betting analysts favor different outcomes based on the stylistic matchup. Spivac stands 6-foot-3 with a 78-inch reach, while Petrino is also 6-foot-3 with a 77.5-inch reach.

The key difference lies in their approaches to fighting. Spivac excels at taking opponents down and controlling them on the mat, while Petrino has shown powerful striking ability and improved knockout power at heavyweight.

Petrino has demonstrated 79% takedown defense in his UFC career. However, his cardio and fight IQ have been questioned by analysts reviewing his recent performances.

Spivac has faced elite heavyweight competition throughout his career, including bouts against Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis. Petrino has not yet been tested against championship-caliber opponents at heavyweight.

The betting market suggests a methodical fight rather than an early finish. The over on 1.5 rounds is heavily favored at -210, while the under sits at +160.

Analysts recommending Spivac point to his grappling advantage and Petrino’s tendency to fade when forced to work over multiple rounds. Those favoring Petrino cite his knockout power and Spivac’s vulnerability to hard strikes, as demonstrated in the Almeida loss.

Spivac to win by decision carries +320 odds, while Spivac to win by submission or decision is listed at +210. Petrino to win by knockout is priced at +215.

The fight takes place as part of UFC Fight Night, with the main event featuring Anthony Hernandez versus Gregory Rodrigues. Both Spivac and Petrino are looking to position themselves for higher-ranked opponents with a victory in Sacramento.
